A Meta-Regression Analysis on Related triggering Variables on the Suicidal Ideation of Older Adults

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to conduct a systematic review of the previous study on the suicidal ideation of older adults. From 2001 to 2011, 54 articles which had a report primary empirical data met the criteria for inclusion in the meta-analysis. The results of this study are as follows: First, included in the main factors related to the suicidal ideation of older adults were a personal -environment variable, a personal-psychological Variable and a social-environmental variable. The most influential factors among three sets were the personal-psychological Variables. Second, the most influential variable related to the suicidal ideation of older adults among the set of personal-environment variable was personal history of suicide. Third, the most influential variable related to the suicidal ideation of older adults among the set of personal -psychological Variable was depression followed by family stress, economic stress, daily life stress, health problems stress and anxiety, hopelessness. Fourth, the most influential variable related to the suicidal ideation of older adults among the set of social-environmental variable was elderly discrimination. followed by elderly neglect and elder abuse. Fifth, the results of meta-regression analysis revealed that the survey area, years and the sample size had no significant effect on overall effect sizes.
